Big and Burstin' Out Dishcloth

So I was reading here a few days back (don't ask me how many days back........ LOL) and that washcloth is so cute, I just had to have one. So I made me one. Isn't this cute. As I was making it, I was thinking of a million ways I could use this pattern again, or a variation of it. Pillows, spreads, all kinds of things. How fun. So cute.

And that got me started making dishcloths. I'm making enough to fill my kitchen, I guess. (My kitchen is small. Real small.) Thing is, they're cute, aren't they. And totally instant gratification. They work up so quickly. These two below are both from the Lion Brand site, what a cool site. I'm making more, too. UFO's? What UFO's? Ha.

What to do... what to do.............

You know how you go to the yarn store, and a certain thing just appeals to you? Well, yeah. So one day I'm at Hobby Lobby, where I live, (you know) and the multi-colored yarns are just all calling my name. So I buy some. Now there they are, on the shelf, calling my name. They're gorgeous, aren't they. And so soft, too. Now what am I gonna make with them. I have two or three skeins of each, five different colors. Pomegranate Stripe, Ivy League, Sherbet Stripe, Gelato Stripe, and Autumn Stripe. Just gotta figure out what I'm gonna do with them.

One of my little patients at work has a really cute afghan, made with multis, with a black background, and I've thought gee, that would be cute, just maybe with a white background, because I don't like the black. But heck, those are single color multis, so it doesn't work here, and heck, I might would even have to go buy different yarn for that! So I'm not gonna do it. Because I wanna use these yarns. So I'm still thinking. Probably at least one nice neck warmer here..............

So the boy's visiting.....

The boys visited me for a couple of days. When Danny got here, he had to show me his foot. He had stepped on something and it was all green, so I took him to the ER to have it evaluated. No big thing, it turns out, the doctor prescribed antibiotics, gave him a tetanus shot, and said if it gets worse go see the doctor or go back to the ER. Poor kid said "I don't want to see this on facebook." I said "Then don't go to my page!" Ha!

I like this pattern....

This is a cool design. I like it, and I will probably make it again. The reason it is such a close shot is because there are so many ends! You change out yarn in every row, and now I think about it, I should have just carried the ends up the sides, but I cut them off, and now I have to weave them in. Or something. The biggest challenge to me in making a pillow is doing the first row around the edge of it, making it not too tight, but not too loose.

Ack, I made this with Caron's Simply Soft. The jury is out on this yarn so far. It creates a luscious fabric, I think, so soft and cuddly. But working with it is a bear! It is so splitty, and I undo so many stitches, the work goes much more slowly than with either Red Heart or I Love This Yarn. But the colors are beautiful. I really think Caron's SS colors are more vivid than most other yarns. Push come to shove, I will probably continue to use this yarn, hate working with it, and love the finished product..............

The pattern, by the way, is the Interlocking Block Stitch, page 16o from Erika Knight's Basic Crochet Stitches. I love this book!

A random sighting....

So I'm watching 'Selling New York' the other night on HGTV. Ask me why I love that show so much, who knows......... probably because I've always dreamed of living in New York, and most probably never will. But I digress. I'm watching, and there's Roy Orbison's wife, and she's wearing this pretty cool crocheted shawl. Look at that. Pretty, isn't it? There's a shot of her where she's walking up some stairs, and you get a good look at that shawl, and it's pretty long in the back. I loved the way she was working that shawl. Made me think I need to make me a really big, really gorgeous crocheted shawl, and work it like that. She was looking pretty darn good.

I love being surprised by crochet.

Finally Finished!!!! GSB

After nine long months, the Granny Square Blanket is done! Yay, finally! I tell you, no one project has ever taken me this long to finish.......... well, except my kids, but you know. Ah, ha!

Ah, but look at it. I tell you, I love this thing. It's gorgeous to me. The colors are scrumptious, I think, although I know that, me being me, someone else would have been able to mix the colors up more beautifully. I don't care, this makes me happy. It's really heavy. I used a G hook, whice I don't think I'll do again very soon for a blanket.

Do you like the edge? I think it's nice, looks even prettier on the edge than it did in the book. I will probably use this edge again, in fact.

Now look, I'm all ready for snow. No, not really. I hate snow. But when it gets cold, I'll pull out this lovely thing.

Another beret

Well, the more I looked at that big beret I made for Jennie, the more I thought maybe I needed one. So I made me one in pink. Interesting, this one did not turn out nearly as big, and I made it just like Jennie's. The other one was in the red sparkle, and this one is, obviously, pink, but they are both I Love This Yarn. Just goes to show you, I guess. Also, this one took less than a skein to make, and the red one took just over a skein. I guess because there are less yards in a sparkly skein? Anyway, now I have a reason to look forward to cold weather? Ha ha ha! This will keep my head warm anyway. Maybe.

Edge of the Edge

I am on the homestretch. I am working on the edge of the edge of the Granny Stripe Blanket. I am using Stitch number 119, 'Shells and Picots', from Jane Davis' Crochet, The Complete Guide. It's a pretty stitch, I like it. I think it goes nicely with the rest of the blanket, too.

I tell you, I have seriously never worked this long on an afghan. Most of the afghans I do really only take two or three weeks. Of course, I'm sure that has a lot to do with the fact that these days, I'll have several works in progress, whereas in the past, I only ever did one thing at a time. But I'll be so glad to have this done, not just because I've been working on it forever, but just because it is so beautiful.

Searching far and wide.

Look at this. Gorgeous, no? I want this. You know, the pattern. I am willing to pay for it, I am not asking anyone to send me a pattern for which the creator get neither credit nor compense.... (ha, like the word? I do.... but I digress.) I just want to know where to go, what to do, in order to make this wonderful purse. Can anyone help me?

Interweave Crochet, Summer, 2011

Oh, my gosh, I got my first little peak at Interweave Crochet Summer issue today, and does it look yummy! I tell you, IC is about my favorite crocheting magazine! I am constantly checking the racks at Barnes and Noble to see if there is a new issue out. This one hits newsstands June 14, according to their website. I can't wait! Seriously. Look at all these yummy things from the preview. And there are more, I've just chosen my favorites. The Trillium Tunic by Natasha Robarge. Look at those gorgeous medallions. Love it. I might would just make it longer and wear it as a dress, would that not be fun!

Swift Eddy Tablecloth by Elisa Cleveland. I've been looking for a nice round tablecloth pattern, and I think this is just the ticket!

Swannanoa Skirt by Natasha Robarge - Oh, look, she has two designs! I'm thinking this would be so fun for the fall. I would so wear this, even if those horizontal stripes bring out my hips. Big deal. The skirt is gorgeous.

Ooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhh, beautiful, no? The River Walk Wrap by Sharon Falkner. I have a brand new summer sleeveless dress that this would look beautiful over. You know, to cover my wide arms. I am so making this.

Pine Cone Top by Annastasia Cruz. Wonderful. I love it.

Robin Chachula is probably my absolute favorite crochet designer. This is her Grove Park Tank. I love it. Besides the whole design being great, I'm thinking I could just make the yoke, and use it to dress up an everyday tee, whatcha think?

I love this! I love the idea of crocheted things around my house, you know, besides pillows and blankets. This is on my list of to-do's. It's the Fiddlehead Basket by Brenda K.B. Anderson. It's on the list, too.

See why I love Interweave Crochet so much? And there are other gorgeous things in there as well, but I ran out of room. I'm counting the days 'til I can get this. I've tried subscribing, but for some crazy reason, it never takes my credit card, and there's money there. Makes me nuts, but what can you do. Take my card, IC, I don't want to miss an issue!
