And it's my own design!

I aspire to actually design crochet at some point. Wouldn't that be nice, make a hobby, something I love doing, into a viable business? Especially as I get older, and it gets harder to run up and down those halls, pushing, pulling, and tugging people and things....

So anyway, I forget where the inspiration for this came from, but it's made with post stitches, and is so thick and soft, and I think it would be so warm and cozy on a cold day. I do think I will work it again, though, maybe from the bottom up, and making the bottom a bit thicker and heavier, to match the rest of the hat. I wonder if the band at the bottom looks like an afterthought here. I'll work a little more on it, but I think it came out pretty nice, and I am encouraged.

Y'all have a wonderful day!

Aw, how sweet!

Aw, how sweet!  Rob over at BoysCrochet2 gave me an award!  I'm truly touched, even though it took me forEVER! to realize it!  With the moving and the crappy internet situation and everything, I only just now got his note.  Pheesh!  There are things I have to do, answer questions and pass the award along, and I will do that when I've had time to think, but I wanted to let Rob know how much I appreciate his kind words of appreciation.  Meantime, y'all go check his blog, too!

Have a wonderful day!

Total Chaos

I am knee-deep in the process of moving.  Right now, it is total chaos.  I have moved most of the boxes, furniture, and stuff out of my old, small apartment.  I just need to get maybe another load or two, and then I'll be done.  But look at all this mess!  There's a lot yet to be unpacked, a place found for it, and put up.  Fee!  Of course, the decorating is the fun part, but goodness.  And I thought I had it going on, thought having a designated closet for crocheting was going to be enough space.  Turns out, not so much.  I guess I have a lot more crocheting crap than I thought.  Has it gotten out of hand?  Maybe.  I don't know, I gotta figure this out.  On the good, internet here, so I'll be able to blog more, read more blogs, all that.  That'll be fun.

Y'all have a great day!

Jewel Tone Round Ripple - Off The Hook

I finished my round ripple, and I do love it.  I'm crazy about these jewel tones.  I think it's time to try some different colors for my next afghan, though, I have used these in two now.  But boy, I love this Caron yarn for afghans.  I'm telling you, putting my hands on an afghan I made with Red Heart SS just reminds me how nice the Caron is.  Next, I'm gonna make me a pretty gold shawl, although I will be starting an afghan soon as well, I'm sure.  Can't let go of them for long....
Y'all have a beautiful day!

Hats!

You know, I do love me some Drew Emborsky.  The Crochet Dude, even.  I have made another hat just like the four or five I have already made using the cover pattern from his In All Caps booklet.  I'm gonna make the other caps in that booklet, seriously, but this one is just so nice!  Now I just have to throw it into an envelope and send it to my sister.

I made this one using Red Heart Shimmer yarn.  You know, I've read some articles saying that yarn was not a great yarn.  I totally disagree.  It was nice to work with, and it's a very soft yarn, and my goodness!  I don't think the niceness of this hat is captured in this picture.  Jane, you will love it, I do believe.  I'm gonna have to make me one, then maybe I'll make some to list on etsy, once I get to listing things on there.

Well, then I was all finished with Jane's hat, and decided to make another, so I whipped out another little book I had just gotten, Celebrity Slouchy Beanies for the Whole Family, and made this one up.  That's cute, isn't it?  I like it a lot.  In fact, the pattern calls for it to be made in bulky yarn and I didn't have any on hand, so I just grabbed a skein of I Love This Yarn and the hook called for in the pattern, (K, I think) and started in.  It turned out nicely, I think, and the size is right as well.  I may end up making a bunch of these, too!  It worked up in like an hour, so it was quick, too.

Y'all have a happy, hooky day!

Oh, my gosh, isn't this little guy adorable?  My grandma had a boxer growing up, his name was Pokey.

Katia Heinlein has designed this cute little pattern, it's for sale on Etsy.  Here's the link.  So cute!

Y'all have a great day.

Adjustments....

Ack!  They've gone and changed Blogger!  Yeesh, and I had it all figured out!  Dang it!  Now I've got to learn it all again, and it looks all funny on my computer.  And I had to add Google Chrome to even deal with it......pheesh.  Well, I'll adjust.  I guess it's the age.  Change throws me.  I'm thrown.  Ha!

Well, look at that.  It's the Block of the Month from Crochet Magazine.  Isn't it pretty?  I like it.  Funny thing, I click to the download, it's from the Annie's Attick book  101 Granny Squares.  I'm sure I have that book.  I love me some Annie's Attic, you know.  Spend too much money over some.  Something in my shopping cart as we speak.  I won't even mention that I don't do my bookshelf justice.  Should look at those books more, and yikes, the things I want to make.

Oh, listen to me ramble.

Y'all have a wonderful day.

Undecided.....

I took a break from the afghan for a couple of hours. Made this hat. I'm undecided about this hat. It's warm on the head, but I don't know if it's really cute. It did give me some ideas for future hats............... I was gonna have a red hat, all ready for the ladies with the purple dresses, you know............. LMHO I guess it's back to the drawing board.

Finished the big, beautiful granny.

I haven't been this happy with a completed project in a good long while. This great big granny is, to me, beautiful. I love the colors, and I think the pattern came out nice. I like the way the edge works on it as well. I think this will be out on display, in use, in my living room for a very long time.

I love the Caron Simply Soft yarn with which I made it. Such beautiful, bright colors. Yes, it's a little splitty to work with, and you do have to occasionally adjust if your hook doesn't grab it just right, but the finished project is so soft and silky, it's totally worth it. In fact, I am using this same yarn for my current project, another round rippled afghan. I tend to call these things stars, though they really aren't. They look sort of star-like to me.

Y'all have a wonderful day, with much happy hooking going on!

How cute are those!

I'm sitting here eating peanuts (by the way, is there anything better than peanuts in shells... well, there is, but they're pretty good.... but I digress) and looking at the new Annie's Attic catalog, which just came in the mail today.

Look at those! Those earrings! Aren't they cute! Here's the link to order them. I gotta have me that pattern and make me some earrings. I love crocheted jewelry, and these are just too cute. Dang Annie's Attic, always putting out more stuff I gotta have. They are gonna break me! Ha! I'll die broke and surrounded by crochet. Not a bad way to go, if you ask me.

Y'all have a great day.

I know it's not Wednesday......

But heck, thought I'd share my current WIP anyway. My latest afghan, a big ole granny. I love these crazy things.

Yep, it's even almost done. I'm working on the edge of the edge. Nice simple scallop, nothing too fancy. I thought something fancier would overwhelm it, but I also think this is too pretty for just a picot edge. I'll do a ta-dah when it's all done. It is beautiful, I think.

And look, do you like these colors? I do. I think I right-clicked this from Drew Emborsky's facebook page or something. It looks like Red Heart Soft colors to me. I'm thinking I need to do something like this. I love those colors.

Y'all have a great day!

What? Men, too?

Another little facebook tidbit that I thought I'd share. I love that she says any male who knits in public is obviously masculine enough to defend himself. Go Abby!

Expecto Crochetnum? Ha ha ha!

Oh my gosh, this was so funny! A facebook friend of mine posts this picture with the caption "Expecto Crochet-num!" And the fun began! I'm not showing names for privacy's sake, just sharing some of the comments, which made me totally ROFL!

Dishcloths in the round

So I bought this book for less than five bucks! Seriously, how do you resist that? And right now, I have a couple of big projects going, well, three in fact. I know. Anyway, I thought I'd work up some little things, you know, instant gratification and all. So I sat down with this little book and started making some dishcloths. They're cute. Fun. They're a little ripple-y, now flat when you lay them down. Oh well. Does a dishcloth have to be flat? They're so sweet, though. I can see adjusting them to where they lay flat and making a tablecloth out of them, you know, making a bunch and putting them together. Particularly the flower. I'll make more of these when I need more instant gratification. I can make one up in a couple of hours. And they're fun, and simple, and you learn a new pattern or two. Cool book, huh?

This is not my favorite pillow...

......by any means. It kinda really came out all lop-sided. Once I had started making it, I didn't like it, but thought, 'Well, maybe it'll grow on me.' or 'It might look better when it's done.' And by the time I had realized it wasn't going to grow on me, and it wouldn't look better when it was done, I was committed to making it, and needed to finish it. I don't like it, but I'm gonna throw it on the bed with all those other white pillows I'm making for a while. This summer, if I still don't like it, I'll put it in a yard sale or something............... ah well, I made it and I finished it.....

Y'all have a great day.

2011 Annie's Attic Afghan Calendar

Y'all were waiting for this, weren't you? Man, I was. I love the Afghan Calendar that comes out every year. Twelve big afghan patterns. I love it. Wanna look at it with me? I just got it today.... What do you want to make?

Ah, January.... guess they think we're all working on the ones we didn't finish last year. (Never mind that they're right.............) This one is nothing new under the sun, I think.....

(The opinions expressed in this blog are the opinions of the writer, and in no way reflect the views of blogdom.) LMHO

Just your regular, run-of-the-mill, double crochet ripple. Not that it's not beautiful. I love ripples, make a lot of them. My point is that I have the ripple pattern down, can do it in my sleep. It's called Rippling Ridges. That's original.

I believe this was in Crochet World? I love it, don't get me wrong, man, I do actually want to make it, in vivid colors, reds, browns, golds................ but I already have this pattern, on account of I subscribe to both Crochet and Crochet World digitally. It's called Rocking Guitar Ripple.

I think this is Catherine's Wheel, is it not? Beautiful, yes? Yes, indeed. It's called Peaceful Harmony. Pretty name.

Oh, I like this one. Radiating Diamonds, pretty. These little motifs form a radiating diamond pattern, hence the name. That's a lotta little motifs, though.

May is called Playtime. Cute little baby afghan. Sweet.

I already have this pattern somewhere, I am sure. Maybe it's in that 50 Beautiful Afghans book, the one with the Stained Glass Afghan on the cover. It's pretty, isn't it? That edge is gorgeous, yes indeed.

I have a thing for the 23rd Psalm. A church I was attending years ago had an in-depth study of it, and I learned so much. Ever since then, I have loved the 23rd Psalm. Also, my mother loved the 23rd Psalm. I believe it was one of her favorite Bible passages. I like this afghan. I would like to say I am gonna make this, but are those popcorns? Popcorns make me nuts.

Ooooohhhhhh, look at thaaaaaaaaaaatttt............. Oooohhhh........ Ah.......... That there is pretty. I would love to make that. Alas, it is made of 117 blocks. 117! I don't know that I can go there.......... I'm still working on the 64 blocks that make up the Sunny Spread............

THAT! That right there! Y'all, this is the reason I had to have this calendar. The Log Cabin Scrapghan. I don't know about Scrapghan, I'll probably buy the yarn for this, but I WILL! make this. Ain't she gorgeous!

Ah, yes, Breast Cancer Awareness. It's a good cause, yes, it is, but I'm waiting for somebody to design somebody awesome for breast cancer awareness........ something with varying colors of pink, and beautiful swirls, maybe some flowers mixed in with the ribbons, and a beautiful, beautiful edge.

Wasn't this just published in Crochet World in December or so? Designed by a blogger I follow, I think, too. But, oh my, it's beautiful. Done in some gorgeous colors, too, by the way. Red Heart carrot, medium thyme, gold, and burgundy. Vivid, beautiful colors.

Now, I personally would expect the December afghan to be a Christmassy
afghan, and this one is not. But heck, that's just color choice, right? Make this in Christmassy colors, it's a Christmassy afghan, right? That's pretty, too, isn't it. I like it.

Now, I don't mean this to be a negative post, though I did fuss quite a bit, didn't I? Tired, maybe. It's a beautiful calendar. I hope to make a few things in here. And I know y'all wanted to see what all was here, didn't you.

Have a wonderful day!

That danged New Year!

That picture has nothing to do with this post. But I like the picture. It was a fun day, and the picture is just me and my boys, goofing around, and we look like we're having a good time, and we were...........

Yeesh, the New Year is work. I take my New Year's goals quite seriously. I don't make resolutions, those just set you up for failure, I think. If you don't meet your resolutions, you've failed. On the other hand, a goal is proactive, something to strive for. If you don't make the goal, you've still made progress, and you just keep working at it. So I make goals.

Yikes, but I haven't made them yet. I've gotta get busy. Decide what I'm gonna shoot for this year. Figure out what I accomplished last year, and build from there. I've gotta get to work!

Happy New Year, y'all............. hey, it's still January, the year is young!
